Company History

At Wilson’s Appliance Centers we have been providing outstanding appliance sales and service to Northern New York families since 1921.  Back then, E.V. Wilson started selling appliances door-to-door out of the back of a truck as the area’s exclusive Maytag dealer.  After just one year in business, E.V. Wilson opened his first store, “The Adirondack Maytag Company” on Margaret Street in downtown Plattsburgh.  In 1934 he expanded his product line to include other name brand appliance manufactures, moved to Broad Street in Plattsburgh and “Wilson’s Appliances Company” was born.

ownersOver the years we acquired such brands as General Electric, Amana, Jenn-Aire and many more. Over the same period our name evolved into “Wilson’s Appliance Centers”. In 1998 E.V.’s grandson, Nathan, who grew up in the business, took over operation in 1998.  One year later a 2nd location, on Water Street in Elizabethtown, was added.

Now the biggest Maytag dealer north of Albany, the “little store where very high sales volume means low prices” is no longer so little.  In May 2006 we moved from our long-time home on Broad Street to a 8500 square foot showroom at 795 Route 3 in Plattsburgh.

We continue to run Wilson’s Appliance Centers in the same tradition of hard-working determination and dedication to service that E.V. started back in 1921.  Delivery is free, so is installation and removal of your old appliance. On-time service remains a trademark. While Wilson’s has continued to grow the service is still personal and the people friendly.  We look forward to serving North Country families for years to come.ver the years we acquired such brands as General Electric, Amana, Jenn-Aire and many more.
